Do you ever think the phrase you are what you eat is true? Well, it really is.   Nutrients from foods that you eat provide the foundation of every cell in your body.   Eating well can contribute to a healthy mindset, which in turn have a direct effect on your lifestyle and well being. In this post I will share my ideas to swap junk food snacks for healthy food.

 

  • Instead of chips & dip­ – Try veggies with hummus.
  • Instead of potato chips – Try kale chips
  • Instead of lox on a bagel with cream cheese – Try putting 2 ounces of smoked salmon on rice crackers with mixed greens, dill, and cucumber
  • Instead of white potato french fries with ketchup – Try sweet baked potato fries with maple syrup
  • Instead of store bought pudding – Try homemade chia seed pudding
  • Instead of Ice Cream – Try making your own with coconut milk, fruit, and ice
  • Instead of Candy – Try frozen grapes (Cotton Candy grapes are amazing too)
  • Instead of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – Try vegan cookie dough (made out of oats and chickpeas) Here’s our favorite
  • Instead of Chocolate – Try Cacao
  • Instead of Soda – Try to drink sparkling water
  • Instead of Mac & Cheese – Try spaghetti squash with vegan cheese
  • Instead of Cheesecake – Try Greek Yogurt Cheesecake
  • Instead of a Milkshake – Try an Avocado Smoothie
  • Instead of Microwave Popcorn – Try air popped popcorn or stove top popcorn (much healthier)
  • Instead of Muffins for breakfast- Try a homemade parfait
  • Instead of Cake with artificial dyes- Try a cupcake with dyes made from fresh fruit or veggies
  • Instead of Peanut Butter- Try sunflower Butter (or Almond Butter)
  • Instead of Peanut M&M’s- Try a handful of almonds
