Snow Day Activities For All Ages

Today was a snow day for part of the Northeast United States (NJ, NY, PA, CT, etc).  This can be great for adults when they don’t have kids to worry about entertaining for hours but what are you to do when you have children who are home from school and can’t go out and play?  I have compiled a list of activities for kids of all ages so you don’t ever have to worry about it again!  Save this post for future reference and don’t forget to comment with your favorite ones from the list below or add your own activity!  We’d love to hear from you!

Snow Day Activities For The Littlest Of Ones (up to 5 years old)

  1. Stay in Pajamas all day.
  2. Make homemade play dough
  3. Make homemade sand castles (you will need a box & newspaper for this so the sand doesn’t get everywhere in the house)
  4. Build a hut (use your imagination and let your children camp out and play in it all day)
  5. Coloring party
  6. Have your kids trace their hands and make mitten pictures!
  7. Snowman contest (either outdoors or see who can draw the best or most creative one) maybe add in a theme for the snowman to make it different!
  8. Balloon Tennis or Balloon Volleyball, really you can play most sports with a balloon so get creative!
  9. Have a Go-Fish Tournament or play a board game that involves following directions.
  10. Have an indoor picnic.

Snow Day Activities For 6 Years & Up

  1. Bake some cookies and decorate them!
  2. Bake a Snowman cake (you get the idea)
  3. Do a science experiment
  4. Play an educational board game.
  5. If its okay to be outside, make a snow castle or see who can make the biggest snowman.
  6. Have an Uno Tournament.
  7. Snow Day Story Contest
  8. Snow Day Scavenger Hunts in the house.
